Holcim Cement Plant
Construction began in April 2001 on a 6000 tons per day dry process cement plant with a 20-month construction duration. This new plant will replace the existing wet process cement plant, which currently produces 2000 tons per day. The new dry process will not only provide more finished product daily, but also will conserve energy and greatly reduce emissions, which impact our environment.
The project has had 36,000 cubic meters of concrete placed to date. When completed, over 3,500 meters of new conveyers will have been erected, as well as a 106-meter tall four-stage pre-heater tower. Also, over 4,000 metric tons of structural steel will have been installed, a 5.2 meter diameter by 78 meter long gas and coal-fired kiln will have been assembled, and new storage facilities to hold over 45,000 tons of finished product will have been built.
