Skanska USA Civil was awarded this project from the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to construct the Phase 2 Contract at the F. Wayne Hill Waste Water Treatment Plant. The scope of work for this contract included furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals required for modifications and expansion of the effluent pump station, construction of a new post-ozonation distribution box, demolition of the membrane demonstration building, construction of five new prestressed concrete equalization tanks and an associated odor control building.
In addition to the modifications listed above, the contract also called for construction of new pre-ozone contactors, post-ozone contactors, a new ozone/effluent electrical building, a new pre-ozonation distribution box, new granular activated carbon (GAC) adsorbers, modification of existing GAC adsorbers and construction of a new GAC blower building and electrical building. The Skanska USA Civil team was also responsible for constructing a new solids storage tank, two new backwash return basins, modifying the existing backwash return pump station, construction of three new anaerobic digesters and modifying two existing anaerobic digesters.
Also included in this complex assignment was installation of a new gas control system, including a new compressor building and four new gas storage tanks and construction of a new influent pump station. Electrical work on this project encompassed installation all piping associated with the new and modified facilities including a new electrical ductbank providing new electrical wiring, switches, equipment, appurtenances, and transformers as well as providing new instrumentation and controls. The team also constructed new yard piping and modifying existing piping. |
